Friends!
Are you
prepared my friends that right in Kuching, we have so many poor people?
We know of a
family at the end of Nanas Road West, Kg Kudei Lama who is in a very terrible
situation.
The family is
living in a squalid condition, it is an inhuman condition not fit for living,
The condition
is so much worse than what we saw in third world country like Cambodia.
You will be
shocked to the core at their living condition.
The three
siblings came from a dysfunctional family, we are here to help them in whatever
ways. Yes, aptly this year's church theme is families sent on a
mission... that is what we are called to do.
Irene aged 19
years old, is the eldest daughter of her mother (the late Amoi, a single
mother, died at the age of 36 last November of kidney failure. She did
not have the means to go for kidney dialysis). Irene is also a single mother
with a baby Iriyana who is 15 months old, a bundle of joy, always smiling. Iriyana is being looked after by an aunty. An
account has been opened for Irene so donors could chip in to help the family.
This is a new beginning for them.
Jessica is the
second daughter of late Amoi, aged 14 years old dropped out from school in Form
2. Now residing at Balai Ringin with an aunty possibly to escape poverty
at Kg Kudei Lama.
Alexander
Maxwell aka Tambi is the third child of late Amoi, at age 10 years old only
started school on
Tambi came to
the attention of the SKUP volunteers during the daily delivery of food.
Before, he collects scrap iron in the neighbourhood to feed himself.
Tambi is the apple of all the volunteers' eyes - everybody loves him because he
is always smiling eventhough he does not talk very much.
We need good
people to help repair their dilapidated house, and to get Irene to and return
from the coffeeshop where she is working and residing to look after her
siblings.
Is it possible
to get the whole family out of Kg Kudei as the environment that is not too
healthy?
“If we cannot
help 100 people, we will begin by helping one family” - Mother Teresa

P.S.
Kg Kudei Lama
is just at the end of Nanas Road West, right behind the Unaco Supermarket.
(Kg Kudei Lama
is the slums of Kuching, or the Calcutta of Kuching to put in more crudely.)
The children's
uncle is a security guard at the SK Combined school. He has a son, Edwin
who is the same age as Alexander.
