Q. Why can’t priests marry?

The celibacy of priests is a Church law, and the Church has every right to specify the conditions according to which she will accept but candidates for the priesthood.  No man is forced to become a priest ... he voluntarily decides to do so after many years of prayerful preparation ... marriage itself is a holy institution but the person who is unmarried can give himself more completely to the service of God and his fellow Christians (see 1 Cor. 7,32) ... Our Lord promised a special blessing to those who would leave all things, including wife and family, for his sake (Luke 18,29).
