Q. Are Catholics
forbidden to read the Bible?
No! On the contrary, the Catholic Church encourages Catholics to read
the Bible, for it is the inspired word of God.
Pope Pius XII, for example, urged Catholic families to read the Bible “daily
with piety and devotion” (Divino Afflante Spiritu ─ 1943). If some Catholics do not read the Bible, then
they should.
