Sandy Leong I think here Jesus
means a soul who prays but at the same time is thinking about or planning other
things. Also, what it could be is that when the soul is praying, it just asks
and asks and does not spend time in contempletative
prayer when God can enlighten and speak to the soul.
Michael
Hii hmm... TALKATIVE SOUL = ??
Michael
Hii For
St Theresa of Lisieux, just turning her head, looking
up to Jesus on the Cross, that was her PRAYER. nobody
talked, yet the LOVE is perfectly felt, by both...
Val
Harry Yes. As in 1 Samuel
3:10 " Speak, Lord, for thy servant
is listening "..
Sandy Leong Brother Val Harry, you are right (your quote from the Holy Scripture)! Blessed Mother say
similar with the Scripture : "Before you speak,
it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart."
Sandy
Leong Jesus told Saint Faustina Kowalska : "...STRIVE for a life of recollection so that you can
HEAR My voice, which is SO SOFT that ONLY recollected souls CAN hear it."
(Dairy 1779)
"But, in order to hear the voice of God, one has
to have SILENCE in one's soul and to keep silence ;
not a gloomy silence, BUT an interior silence ; that is to say, RECOLLECTION in
God." (Diary 118)

Through Christian Meditation we “be at home” with God
who is at our very centers. Our relationship with the Transcendent (superior or
supreme in excellence, surpassing others) God is generally mediated through
devotions and sacraments. Our relationship
with the Incarnate God is generally mediated through involvement and action
with people and the world. In these relationships we can often be “Marthas,” busy about many things.
Our relationship with the Immanent (indwelling) God
is without any mediation, it is direct. This is what mystical means, it is entirely simple and uncomplicated. It is to be
a “Mary”, to choose the one thing necessary, to be hospitable to the Lord, to
be at home with Him, and then to move out into the world from that relationship.
Sandy Leong Saint Faustina : "A talkative
soul lacks both the essential virtues and intimacy with God. A deeper interior life, one of gentle peace and of
that silence where the Lord dwells, is quite out of the question. A soul that
has never tasted the sweetness of inner silence is a restless spirit which
disturbs the silence of others."
Michael Hii We must learn to LISTEN to the voice of
GOD... like the encounter of Elijah, God came as a
GENTLE BREEZE, not in the strong wind, earthquake or the fire, but in the
gentle breeze...
Michael Hii 1 KING 19:The encounter with God
19:9 There he went into the cave and spent the night in it. Then the word of
Yahweh came to him saying, 'What are you doing here, Elijah?'
19:10 He replied, 'I am filled with jealous zeal for Yahweh Sabaoth, because the
sons of Israel have deserted you, broken down your altars and put your prophets
to the sword. I am the only one left, and they want to kill me.'
19:11 Then he was told, 'Go out and stand on the
mountain before Yahweh'. Then Yahweh himself went by. There came a mighty wind,
so strong it tore the mountains and shattered the rocks before Yahweh. But
Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake. But Yahweh was
not in the earthquake.
19:12 After the earthquake
came a fire. But Yahweh was not in the fire. And after the fire there came the
sound of a gentle breeze.
19:13 And when Elijah
heard this, he covered his face with his cloak and went out and stood at the
entrance of the cave. Then a voice came to him, which said, 'What are you doing
here, Elijah?'
19:14 He replied, 'I am filled with jealous zeal
for Yahweh Sabaoth, because the sons of Israel have
deserted you, broken down your altars and put your prophets to the sword. I am
the only one left and they want to kill me.'
19:15 'Go,' Yahweh said 'go back by the same way to
the wilderness of Damascus. You are to go and anoint Hazael
as king of Aram.
19:16 You are to anoint
Jehu son of Nimshi as king of Israel, and to anoint
Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel Meholah,
as prophet to succeed you.
19:17 Anyone who escapes
the sword of Hazael will be put to death by Jehu; and
anyone who escapes the sword of Jehu will be put to death by Elisha.
19:18 But I shall spare seven thousand in Israel:
all the knees that have not bent before Baal, all the mouths that have not
kissed him.'

My Lord have
mercy on me. I just can't imagine your agony at this moment. Please help me to
love like you.
Michael
Hii When we persevere in our prayers, we become TALKATIVE, when we
persevere in our listening, Jesus become TALKATIVE, but when we persevere in
listening, and Jesus also persevere in listening both in dead silence, maybe
this is the most DIFFICULT prayer, and yet our salvation depends on it.
Sandy
Leong You are
so funny Brother Michael. You have cracked a joke. LOL!
Michael
Hii Amen
Pauline
Siong Life is hard, uncle Michael Hii. I read
and re-read what you wrote. You must have given so much thought on the above
post and the post on talkative souls that light streamed into your soul. For
that I call you uncle. You have the chance to practice silence tomorrow. Have a
blessed visit.

Dau William Some essentials of
John Main's teaching
Modern people are very alienated within themselves.
Through meditation, they take the focus of attention off themselves and become
restored to their own centers.
At their own centers they become present to the prayer
of the Holy Spirit that dwells within each one of us. This puts them in touch
with great energy and leads to fullness of life.

I did not feel like writing today. Then I heard a voice
in my soul: My daughter, you do not live for yourself but for souls; write for
their benefit........ [Diary of St Faustina.]
Pauline
Siong Thanks Maryleflyna Dau
William for all of your good sharings.
Pauline
Siong Sandy Leong, post some
more to activate uncle Michael Hii to reflect on so we
can glean from the light that streamed into his soul.
Michael
Hii Some people LIVE TO EAT, some people EAT TO LIVE... For Faustina, Jesus told her to LIVE FOR SOULS, that is to save
souls !
Sandy
Leong This is when we have
learned to be quiet but also suffering great spiritual dryness and attacks of
the devil (trying to get us to doubt or torturing us with temptations). We are
in such a sorry state we truly need to hear a Word for God and yet .... it doesn't come. Many
(most or all) of the saints experienced this. During the trials, are Faith
becomes very pure for we have nothing to rely on to bolster us and God seems to
not be doing anything to help us? (though, of course,
He is helping us and is near to us. Just we're not aware of it!). This is what
Jesus was experiencing on the cross when He said, 'My God! My God, why have You forsaken Me!' Our salvation is achieved by God by our
FAITH - our trusting in His goodness and power to save. One who believes
(trusts) when there appears to be no reason to do so truly has
great faith and is SAVED! Obviously only the ones who are truly very strong in
Faith are allowed to experience such terrible trials and test of Faith.
Pauline
Siong Thanks sis, your last
comment is very helpful and encouraging.
