CHAPTER II

CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE

1. The Ten Commandments

(Exodus 20:2-17 Moses receives the Ten Commandments from God; CCC 2083-2550)

1. I am the Lord your God; you shall have no other gods before me.

2. You shall not take the name of the Lord you God in vain.

3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s day.

4. Honour your father and your mother.

5. You shall not kill.

6. You shall not commit adultery.

7. You shall not steal.

8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.

9. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife.

10.You shall not covet your neighbour’s goods.

2. The Precept of the Church

(CCC 2041-2043)

1. You shall attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation.

2. You shall confess your sins at least once a year,

3. You shall humbly receive your Creator in Holy Communion at least during the Easter Season,

4. You shall keep holy the holy days of obligation.

5. You shall observe the prescribed days of fasting and abstinence.

The faithful also have the duty of providing for the material needs of the Church, each according to his/her abilities.
