Two
days before the Passover feast, the chief priests and scribes met together.
They were looking for an opportunity to capture Jesus through a trick and kill
him. They said to each other: It must not happen during the feast otherwise
the people might revolt!
One
of the twelve apostles, Judas Iscariot, went to the priests and said: I am
prepared to betray Jesus into your hands. They were glad to hear this and
promised to give him a reward – thirty pieces of silver. From then on, Judas
kept looking for a good moment to betray Jesus.
