One
evening Jesus said to his disciples: Let us cross over to the other side of
the lake. They got into the boat and set out. Suddenly a great storm began raging
over the sea. The waves grew higher and the boat began to fill with water.
But Jesus was still sleeping in the back of the boat. His disciples woke him
and said: Master, do you not care? We are going to perish!
Then
Jesus got up. He rebuked the wind and said to the sea: Quiet now! Be calm!
And the wind dropped and all was calm again. Then Jesus said to his
disciples: Why are you so frightened? Why do you have no faith? The disciples
were filled with awe and said to one another: Is he more than just a man?
Even the wind and the waves obey him!
