Jesus
wandered through Galilee. He taught in the synagogues and proclaimed the
Gospel of God. He healed all those who were sick and suffering. Throughout
the country people were talking about him. Men came to him from far and wide.
Seeing that a large crowd had gathered, Jesus went up a hill. He sat down and
his disciples joined him. He began to teach:
All
those who know they are poor in the eyes of God can rejoice, for the kingdom
of heaven belongs to them.
All
those who are in sorrow can rejoice, for God will comfort them.
All
those who do not resort to violence can rejoice, for God will give them
possession of the earth.
All
those who yearn that God’s will be done can rejoice, for God will fulfil
their longing.
All those who are merciful can rejoice,
for God will have mercy on them.
All
those who have a pure heart can rejoice, for they will see God.
All
those who create peace can rejoice, for God will make them his children.
All
those who are persecuted because they do God’s will can rejoice, for the
kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
